Overview of the CLEP History II Exam

The CLEP History II exam is a two-hour, multiple-choice exam that covers the history of the United States from the colonial era to the present. The exam is divided into three parts:

  1. Part 1: The Colonial Era to 1865 (33%)
  2. Part 2: 1865 to 1917 (33%)
  3. Part 3: 1917 to the Present (34%)

Each part of the exam is further divided into subtopics. The following table lists the subtopics and the percentage of each part that they cover:

As you can see, the CLEP History II exam covers a wide range of topics. In order to pass the exam, you will need to be familiar with all of these topics.
